Scar Therapy Massage

Scar Therapy Massage — loosen and release tight scar tissue & fascia.

Scar therapy massage is a non-invasive physical therapy developed to treat scar tissue, fibrosis and adhesions by:

  • Stimulating physical change to scar tissue on the skin's surface, & to adhesions or fibrosis in the underlying tissue.

  • Reducing common symptoms such as pain, sensitivity, & numbness.

  • Promoting functional & cosmetic improvement by easing fascial restriction (tightness & pulling) and by smoothing puckering & indentation.

Treatment can take place following any type of open or keyhole surgery or for a client with scars from trauma injury including, for example, breast surgery, C-Section, oncology, orthopaedic surgery, burn, hand trauma, cosmetic surgery.

I use specialist scar massage, myofascial release, manual lymphatic drainage techniques, therapy tools & self-care advice to promote physical & emotional recovery. Early treatment is recommended e.g., 6-12 months after surgery), but it's never too late & older scars can benefit too.

My treatment approach is a holistic one that aims to ease bodies and minds coping with the physical and psychological effects of scar tissue and its background causes. I will select the best options to deliver a personalised treatment for you and your scar, as well as targeting the systems of the body that are most likely to be challenged and in need of support.

I use the RESTORE Scar Therapy method that has been developed by the UK’s leading scar therapy teacher and Harley Street scar therapy specialist Emma Holly. This method is used within the NHS & by leading private healthcare providers.

Personal Testimony

Having received scar therapy massage on my own breast surgery and hysterectomy scars — from RESTORE practitioners trained by Emma Holly — I can advocate for the amazing results this type of massage can bring, even following a single session. It really is transformative. My scar has reduced (shortened, narrowed, flattened and smoothed), the tightness in my arm, chest and abdomen has eased, and I have gained more movement and flexibility. I am now more confident with my scars and feel at ease about how they look to myself and others. All these effects are deepening on a daily basis as I continue to work on myself, and through top-up sessions with a scar therapist.

  • "I have been having treatment with Louise following a traumatic accident to my ankle and knee. I have seen a big change in reduced swelling, easier and smoother movement and a feeling of lightness in my ankle and knee. My scars are smoother and the pain has reduced. Louise has used a unique combined technique of therapies. I am very happy with the results. I can completely recommend her". ***** Excellent."

  • "I had an accident in December 2018 leaving me with significant scar tissue from the trauma and the after effects of a massive haematoma. Since then I have on going pain, tightness and loss of mobility on my right hip area which has stopping me being able to fully participate in the activities I enjoyed (running, walking), and given me ongoing pain and discomfort. I have had a number of treatments over the years, treating the pain etc. and I was unsure if anything could be done as the accident happened a while ago. Louise completed an initial assessment asking lots of questions about my lifestyle, and the impact of the injury and asked me what my treatment goals were: increase mobility, reduce pain and the fluid around the scar area."

  • "Louise began treatment on the scar area involving massage and other forms of manipulation. We decided a course of 4 treatments spaced over a few weeks. From the first sessions the difference was remarkable. Louise was able to treat the area so that there was a visible reduction to the appearance of the scar and I could feel the difference as it has softened considerably. She treated the injury holistically not just concentrating on the scar itself but the surrounding areas and on the opposite side of my body.."

  • "Expertly softening and reducing the scar, reducing my pain which I have experienced constantly for 6 years and improving the mobility and flexibility in my hip area. I cannot thank and recommend Louise enough. The difference is amazing. I'm back to pain free walking and running and have recently taken up Pilates. If you have scar tissue causing you pain and discomfort then please do not hesitate to book in with Louise. It is hands down the most effective treatment I have had. Thank you again Louise. "
